The countdown begins...

We are less than a week away from meeting our daughters Lily and Elsa. Defying all odds they have stayed put beyond the normal twin gestation.

Dr. Walton thinks they will arrive at any time. At our appointment this week, I was already dilated 1.5cm! Although, we have spent the past 9 months worried about preterm delivery, there are now some health concerns about the twins staying in too long. We are already a week past term for twins. Its getting crowded in there! An induction is scheduled for next Weds. But, Dr. Walton is pretty confident they will arrive on their own before then.

We've been encouraging labor to begin with lots of long walks, spicy foods and other tricks. We thought for sure yesterday was the day as I was having lots of contractions. But, this morning there were still no babies!

Welcome to the world Lily and Elsa! We have been waiting a very, very long time to meet you! Your Mom took very good care of you while you were growing, so you're both very, very healthy. I cannot wait to me you. I am making a very special gift for you both that I will bring in November when I come to visit with your Grandma Angyus. I don't know how to sign in or anything on your website, so I'll just sign my name here. Love, your Great Aunt Chris

Emily and Mark:

Not sure if this message is heading in the intended direction, i.e., towards Mark and Emily, since my antiquated browser displays the page in one single column, each line consisting of three to four words. I hit one of the comments buttons and I somehow landed here.

So much for the introduction.

Congratulations on the Double Baby Bonanza. Time for some new vocabulary words.

Meconium and the Babinski reflex come to mind.

And I love the names. No Haley's or Skyler's in the Panning clan!! Classic. Natural. And a nod to maternal grandma's heritage with Elsa.

Best wishes,

Pat Owens

I just posted Pat's comment, so I thought I'd do one of my own. Congratulations!!! We are so excited that the first of new generation have arrived! Did you know that Elsa and Lily are the sixth generation since Grandma Victoria arrived in this country? Catherine wants to know if we can hop on a plane and go to visit them right away. I wish we could. Hope all is fine with the whole family and that you two are enjoying your new family. I'm sure Grandma Melissa is very happy. Love, great aunt Mary
