The Answer...

This is the Dad making one of my infrequent posts. But I am supplying critical information!

As of 8:05pm PDT, there were 4 correct guesses and 5 incorrect guesses for which baby was which in the last entry.

The correct answer is that Lily is on the left in purple, and Elsa is on the right in pink. And that of course means that Elsa is the one with the bite marks. But in defense of Lily, Elsa does have a habit of rolling across the floor just to steal whatever toy Lily is playing with. How long until babies understand the concept of "sharing"? I guess some people never really learn that...

Can you tell them apart?

We had our first documented case of twin to twin injury. This happened on my watch, I'm afraid. Check out the bite marks on the leg. Ouch! Can't turn my back for a second.

I'm not revealing names to protect the guilty.

This leads me to wonder, can you tell them apart if I don't label the pictures? Our neighbor Fred loves to play this game every time he sees the girls. He has an accuracy rating of about 90%. (but he's the brother of twins). Are you as good? You can leave your guesses in the comments under the page. We've disabled the login feature, so you can even post anonymously if you want.

Chompers

Time for an update. You can blame the recent lapse in communication on Harry Potter #6. Mark and I spent every spare minute plugging through the book. Then we spent the next few days catching up laundry and housework. Its hard to take a break these days.

2 other pieces of business: 1) Mark's cell is missing, so anyone trying to reach us might have problems. Verizon is not very cooperative, so it will take a few days to get up and running 2) We've had some problems with our mail delivery. I think its ok now, but please let us know if you sent anything recently. Grandma and Grandpa I got your package. A proper thank you is coming!

Lily and Elsa have been up to trouble. Over the past couple weeks, they've discovered their teeth. It seems we have a couple biters on our hands (arms, neck and other places). Uh oh! We're living with vampires. It has made life really exciting. They are doing a lot of half crawling/rolling (or rawling as I have named it). So, they are just mobile enough to get into trouble. They've been biting themselves, each other and us. Usually, it is just playful exploring. But, sometimes its more aggressive. If somebody (especially their twin) takes a toy away, WATCH OUT! Seems they are taking after Uncle Erik.

The other interesting thing they've started doing is mimicking each other. They have invented a game where they copy each other. For example, one will start clapping and then the other will follow. One will start blowing raspberries and the other will do the same. (This can get a little messy if they have a mouth full of food at the time). They'll also wave, yell or kick the tray of their high chairs at the same time. They seem to take turns being leader and follower.

Aunt Chris wanted an update about their 10-month appointment last week. They are very close in weight and height. Lily was 16lbs 10 oz. Elsa was 16lbs 11 oz. Only an ounce difference. They were both 26 inches. They are still on the 5th percentile curve on the growth chart. This isn't unusual for for twins as they tend to be smaller than singetons. The doctor isn't very concerned since they are so healthy and strong.

And now the pictures...

Lily and Elsa are wearing what Mark calls their hobbit ponchos. Can you believe we still have to bundle up in the middle of July. The ocean is our air conditioner. The girls really love their new stroller. They can sit a lot closer together. They like to touch knees while they ride.

I'm including this picture because look at the hair tufts! They seem to be getting a little curl to their hair. I don't think it will be as curly as mine, but it does seem to have a little wave. Elsa (L) is growing little tufts over her ears. Lily's hair is more wavy on top.

Elsa enjoying some watermelon. They have little mesh bags that we can fill with fresh fruit and other things. The girls are very into finger foods, especially breadlike things like cheerios, waffles, polenta cakes, english muffins, etc. The other big favorite is plain yogurt. They eat a huge bowl every morning. Meals have been getting so messy that sometimes I just feed them in their diapers. Then they head straight to a bath or dip in their pool.

Elsa's showing off her 4 bottom teeth. She also has 2 on top.

Lily and her 2 top teeth. She also has 3 on the bottom and one more coming.

Lily is chewing on her fingers. Cute, eh!

Gotcha

Just a reminder that even though the girls aren't really crawling yet, they are still mobile. I was doing laundry today when I heard a bunch of noise coming from the living room. Somehow, Elsa wiggled into the bottom of the exasaucer and she was m.a.d. Lily looked quite amused.

I spun them around to see what was going on...Elsa was grabbing her sister's bum. Goofballs.

Happy 4th

Hope everyone had a great fourth of July. Lily and Elsa celebrated in California style at the beach. We went to a giant BBQ in the Marin Headlands at Stinson Beach. The weather was glorious, the food was tasty and the company was great. We had a wonderful day.

Elsa covered in sand. She got on her belly and decided to eat it. Yes, our daughter likes to eat sand. She got mad when we tried to clean it off her face.

Elsa ate a bunch of watermelon at the picnic.
